Ball turned out to be a spectacular evening on Saturday, 28 May 2011, and it was obvious that a tremendous amount of organisation and effort had gone into the event.  Congratulations to all those involved, especially Michelle Hewitt and Clint Page, who created a magnificent night that will be talked about for many years to come.

I arrived early at the function and was amazed by the surroundings and the atmosphere that had been created by the Show Society and their helpers.  The kitchen was flat out producing meals that looked and smelt delicious.  The waiters and waitresses were provided by the Woodford Scouts and the helpers came from all areas of the community.  They all did a wonderful job, with no spillages and cheerful smiles as they carried out their duties.

Of course we were all there to see who would be crowned ‘Belle of the Ball’ and weren’t disappointed when the girls and their partners arrived in style and walked down the red carpet .   The girls looked stunning in their 3 , with glamorous hair styles and make up and were escorted by their handsome young men in their very smart formal suits.

All the contestants had received 8 weeks of lessons in decorum, dancing and makeup.  wedding party dress They all shined on the night and showed off their amazing talent.  The judges were Jenny and Russell Thompson, Marge and Kent McSweenney and Marnee Kent.  Jenny and Marge congratulated the young ladies and young gentlemen on the effort they had put into their looks and outfits.  They emphasized how we as a community have to look after our youth as they will be our leaders and workers of tomorrow.

The judges had some hard decisions to make as the couples wound their way around the room in front of 250 guests.  They then showed off their dancing techniques that they had been practicing for only 8 weeks.  I don’t know much about ballroom, but I was so impressed with their excellent timing.  Clint had mentioned how they had struggled to keep in time in practice, but on the night it all seemed to come together.  cheap gowns cheap gowns; They could certainly be proud of themselves for accomplishing such difficult steps.  They then left the room and ate their dinner in a separate room where they nervously awaited the results.

The guests had abandoned their working clothes and adorned themselves in their smartest 1 for this very special occasion.  MP for Longman Wyatt Roy, with MP Andrew Powell and Councellor Adrian Raedel with his partner Kerry, graced us with their presence and showed their support for our fantastic and motivated Woodford community.

Once dinner was over, the young men and ladies paraded themselves around the room once more and then stood together in anticipation for the announcement of the winners.  They were not judged on their beauty, although all the girls looked simply stunning, but it was more to do with how involved they were in the community, how well they could handle themselves in public and how well they had picked up their dancing skills.

The judges would have liked to have made everyone a winner, and according to Jenny Thompson they all were, but a decision had to be made.  Congratulations go to runner up Princess Amber Lil-Scrivan and the very talented Paige Dumbel was crowned Princess.  Runner up Queen was Bronwyn Cooper and talented Queen was won by Sharni Campbell..  Contestants choice was Emmy Forrester, who looked stunning in a black 0.

The night didn’t end there, the nerves from the day disappeared when the splendid local band played old time music and everyone joined in to dance the night away.  sheath cocktail dresses ; Old and young joined together in harmony, bringing back the old time dancing and having the time of their lives.  The community got all spruced up and made a fun night of it.

The Show Society’s dream is to have a Saturday Night Ball on a regular basis.  satin cocktail dresses plus size satin cocktail dresses plus size I think we will all be looking forward to the next big event.

Again our thanks go to the amazing people that brought the Show Ball together, and everyone who contributed in a big or small way to make it manageable.  Our thanks also go to JPS Hairdressers who gave away their products and expertise for a good cause.  Madeline Pickering was chosen by JPS Hairdressers as their most improved pupil.
