Wedding season is upon us and as I have many photographers and make-up artists as friends on Facebook, I'm constantly reminded of the fact.  It makes me nostalgic and I think back to my wedding day six years ago.  There were so many preparations that went into that day, I mean seriously, we planned for a year!  We picked a location, the cake, the photographer, the officiant (my brother), the tuxes, the bridal party, and last (but certainly not least) the dresses.  I was not a bridezilla, I will just say that now and get it out of the way.  I defend everyone of my actions and stand by them to this day.  men's watches guide men's watches guide; Finding my wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses bridesmaid dresses took quite a lot of work.  short strapless cocktail dresses short strapless cocktail dresses I must have looked in every wedding dress shop in the city of Jacksonville before I finally found it.  The bridal gown that was absolutely perfect, for me.  I actually knew the moment I saw it that this was the dress I ultimately wanted.  It was gorgeous, within the technical budget, and came with the mom stamp of approval.  We ordered my dress and began the search for bridesmaid dresses .  Those were much easier to pick out.  I went to a dress shop (the same one where we ordered my dress) with my bridesmaids to look at dresses.  We were all sitting on a couch flipping through a book of options.  My mom said she knew we'd found the dress before she even saw the page because all of our faces lit up at the same time.  long dress ; All my girls truly rocked their dresses and I was so thrilled to have found one that everyone was happy with.

So, they all had a fitting and the dresses were ordered.  When it was time to go pick up dresses we had a small surprise waiting for us.  The woman running the shop had ordered a size 10 dress for my maid of honor instead of a size 2.  She laughed it off and said she'd been unable to read the measurements she'd written on the order card.  Not to worry mind you, we could just have the dress altered.  For a fee.  First of all, do you know how much fabric is involved in the difference between a size 10 and a size 2?  Especially where boning and gathering are involved?  Secondly, you ordered the wrong size and you want me to pay for the alterations to make it fit? Not so much.  If this were the end of the dress fiasco, it really wouldn't be so bad.  But this story does not end there.  My wedding dress wedding dress was also in on this day.  They bring it around and there is a long black smudge on the satin band around the bottom of the dress.  The shop keeper was mortified, right? white wedding dresses white wedding dresses  WRONG!  She gave a simple, "Oh, that's not so bad." and handed over the dress.  I have to admit that at this point of the encounter, I walked outside.  I had no choice, it was either that or wring the little shop girl's neck.  Seriously, as a customer I've just shelled out quite a bit of cash for the "perfect" dress and you hand it to me dirty with not so much as an "I'm sorry, let me fix this for you" wedding colors bridesmaid dresses wedding colors bridesmaid dresses?  My mom, on the other hand stayed.  long sleeve evening dresses ; She has more control over her temper than I do and was able to be firm and convincing so the owner did what she should do, the honorable thing.  cheap Wedding accessories, bridal accessories and wedding cake toppers for your special day. I look back on this story now, and I can actually laugh.  At the time, I didn't have such a fabulous sense of humor about it.  I guess what it really boils down to is perspective.  Sometimes, when you are so caught up in a situation it's hard to find that perspective you need to move on.  Even if I had gotten married in a paper sack or a smudged wedding dress , the important part was that it was the beginning of a wonderful life with the man I love.  The fact that I got to look amazing?  bridesmaid dresses 2011 trends Eh wedding prom dresses 2011 , well that was just icing on the cake!
